D2: Historic Environment

Historic Environment (on eight commons) will investigate, repair and promote the care of a variety of historic structures, primarily but not exclusively Scheduled Monuments. Surveys include both traditional excavation and technological intervention (geophysical, LIDAR and OSL) with the involvement/training of volunteers and the general public in both. Then there is repair/restoration work on a number of features from Iron Age to Roman to mediaeval to 19th century, again involving volunteers and community participation as well as specialists.
